For your viewing pleasure, a variety of films and videos will be shown in the Exhibit Hall during the Oregon Disability MegaConference.  Titles include:

Mr. Blue Sky (BlueSky Magic Productions)—
“Mr. Blue Sky” is a heart-warming love story, which is as much about hope for children born with Down Syndrome as it is an inspiration for all children born with any intellectual or developmental challenges.  The main message of the film is:  social inclusion and acceptance for all individuals born with any intellectual or developmental challenges.

Including Samuel (Pinehurst Pictures and Sound)—
Photojournalist Dan Habib rarely thought about inclusion before he his son, Samuel, was born seven year ago.  Now he thinks about inclusion every day.  Habib’s documentary film “Including Samuel” examines the educational and social inclusion of youth with disabilities as a civil rights issue.  The film is built on the efforts of Habib and his family to include Samuel, 7, in all facets of school and community.  “Including Samuel” also features four other families with varied inclusion experiences, plus interviews with dozens of teachers, young people, parents and disability rights experts.

Faces of Fragile X (Northern California Fragile X Association)—
Children and teenagers, from 11 months to 20 years, affected by fragile X.  Narration covers basic physical, developmental, cognitive and behavioral characteristics—no genetics.  Helpful as an introduction for teachers, therapists, and others who work with children affected by fragile X.

Smudge (The May Street Group Film, Video & Animation Ltd)—
A contemporary Christmas tale, based on the best selling children’s book “How Smudge Came” by Vancouver, Canada author, Nan Gregory—it is the simple endearing story of a young woman with Down Syndrome and her love for a stray puppy named Smudge.

Great Hires (Washington Initiative for Supported Employment)—
Three companies in the state of Washington tell their stories of hiring individuals with disabilities—the importance and benefits of bringing these individuals into their workforce through supported employment.

Crossing Tahoe (Blueberry Shoes Productions LLC)—
On a frosty morning in September 2007, Karen Gaffney plunged into the dark waters of Lake Tahoe.  Her ambitious goal: to join the few ultra-swimmers who’ve crossed the width of the lake and to be the first woman to cross in the bone-chilling cold of late September. This is a documentary on the endeavor.
